We were worried when purchasing this Barcode scanner that it wouldn’t work well in Linux or that because it was so cheap, it wouldn’t work well at all! If you are a Linux user looking to buy a barcode scanner, you can’t go wrong with the Esky ES017. We snagged one of these used off eBay and it works flawlessly on our Ubuntu machine. In fact, it should work with any OS as it just emulates a keyboard. Scans are quick, accurate, and easy with a nice carriage return/linefeed at the end of each scan, though it can be configured to not do that.
